NHS England names companies on list of lead providers for CCGs

NHS England has named Capita Business Services, Mouchel and Optum alongside seven Commissioning Support Units as lead providers for Clinical Commissioning Groups that wish to tender for support services. The CCGs have to use the accredited organisations when tendering. Over £3bn services will be tendered by April 2016. The services to be provided will include finance, HR, IT, business intelligence and medicines management procurement. The CSUs were established in 2012 as part of the NHS reorganisation and they are expected to end up as profit-making businesses. NHS England hopes the new framework will enable a simpler and cheaper procurement process for CCGs.
